The Eleventh Color

Ever wonder why we only see a total of ten basic colors, at most? I mean, there are in between colors, but why isn't there eleven?

I sometimes wonder what it would look like, the eleventh color. I see more colors than I was meant to, flickering across pages and music.  But I can't help but feel I only have a taste.

I think it would look like the feeling of raspberry ice cream falling off your cone to the grey pavement, only to be caught by someone you hadn't forgotten.

Or maybe it would look the way a brand new pen feels sliding across someone's skin, writing a phone number.

Sometimes, on rainy days, the eleventh color is like a broken goodbye, lodged in my throat.

I wonder...
what is your eleventh color? :)

Listen

I hear you.  Your low voice, with its slight accent and rich vowels colliding with consonantsYour voice, with its wide grin like a slit throat bleeding words into my hands.  You take my hands, point them toward life, toward whatever new thing you want me to see.  Your hands reach high, tracing the air as you leap across the trampoline, touching the black surface as you flip across it, too close to the edge.  I scream.
But you can't hear me.

Salutations!

What is a song that makes you want to jump up and dance, whether at home, with friends or at a dentist's appointment? :)

Direct Orders

This is a direct order. You heard me.  A direct order to rock out.

Rock out like the sun is on fire.
Rock out like your goldfish is drowning.

Rock out like you're alone in a car wash, with your favorite song turned up so loud that the water droplets on your windshield are shaking.
Rock out until your lungs start aching,

Like your heart isn't breaking.

Rock out like you tripped over a cliff but someone just caught you.
Rock out like that outcast is not you.
Rock out like some troubled teen just shot you
but who has time for words when your minutes are slipping away down the drain?

Rock out like you're at a dance and a circle of people just opened up and you are the best dancer in this school.
Rock out like your friends think it's cool.
Rock out like Chuck Norris just gave you a high five.

Rock out like you actually want to.  Rock out just because you can.

Rock out like you are in the Target room at the Rockefeller Center and you don't care how many strangers are around! (you seriously rock if you know what I'm talking about)
